Entry Requirements: A minimum of 5 GCSE’s at grade 5 and above, including a grade 5 in Maths and English Language.

Why study this course? 

Data Analytics uses data to understand information, solve problems and make better decisions. Throughout this course, you will learn how data is collected, organised and analysed. You will explore topics such as Big Data, machine learning and digital marketing, while learning how they are used in real-world situations. The course also includes practical tasks that help you develop problem solving skills and analytical skills, preparing you for further study and a wide range of future careers. You will also see how data is used in everyday life and in different types of businesses.

What will I study?

During the course, you will learn how data is collected, organised and analysed to help businesses and organisations make informed decisions. You will explore a range of topics such as Big Data, machine learning, data visualisation and digital marketing, while learning how these are used in real-world situations. This course is assessed through two externally assessed exams and three coursework units, which gives you the chance to put your knowledge into practice and build skills for further study and future careers. You will also learn how to present data clearly so that other people can understand the information.

What skills will I gain and where will this take me?

This course will help you build the knowledge and skills needed for further study and future careers. You will learn how to work with data, use spreadsheets and databases, and understand how tools such as Big Data, the Internet of Everything (IoE) and digital marketing are used in different industries. By the end of the course, you will have the confidence to apply these skills in practical situations. This course can lead to university, a higher or degree apprenticeship, or careers in areas such as data analytics, business, information technology and digital marketing. The skills you develop can also be useful in jobs where you need to work with information, spot patterns and explain your findings to others.
