Studying Economics at Bow Sixth Form

Entry Requirements: A minimum of a grade 6 in Maths and English Literature GCSE, in addition to at least five grades 5-9 at GCSE.

Why study this course?

Are you interested in finding out about what affects the demand for goods, how the economy works and how tax and exchange rates are set? Would you like to know how wealth is created, maintained and lost? If so, economics is the subject for you. It is a highly demanding subject, which requires a great degree of independent studying.

Note: Students taking A-Level Economics are encouraged to take A-Level Maths alongside, as Maths is often required subject for economics at degree level. It is one of the most highly sought after subjects in the City of London for careers in Financial Services.

What will I learn?

The subject is split into two main sections: microeconomics and macroeconomics. Whereas macro looks at the big issues affecting the economy as a whole (unemployment, inflation, growth …) micro looks at a smaller scale such as the pricing of individual products like oil or gold and the salaries paid to different people.
