Studying Philosophy at Bow Sixth Form

Exam Board: AQA

Entry Requirements: A minimum of a grade 6 in GCSE English Language and a grade 6 in GCSE Religious Studies, in addition to five 5-9 grades.

Why study this course?

Philosophy enable students to develop their critical thinking skills in order to debate the most important and challenging issues of today. A natural progression from GCSE, this course is excellent preparation for further study in a range of Humanities subjects at degree level, including Law, Politics, History and Sociology. The focus on contemporary Philosophy & Ethics makes this subject particularly relevant to students interested in understanding the world around them.

Whilst Philosophy is an active discipline that requires students to debate areas of controversy students will however, be required to produce well-reasoned arguments. Philosophy aims to develop the most important of skills such as critical thinking it therefore provides a perfect base for careers in politics and law.
