Why study this course?
The common assumption is that we have rights as citizens of the United Kingdom. However, in reality our rights are often limited. For example, we cannot say whatever we want without consequences - serious ones if we say certain things.
A-Level Politics asks you to think about the freedom we have, how much power the government should have over us and why. You will start to understand how the UK works and then start to judge for yourself whether or not the UK system is fair.
This course allows you to study contemporary politics and develop a strong understanding of the factors shaping the UK today. It also helps in the development of discussion, written and debating skills, plus the ability to evaluate information.
