Behind every grade, destination offer and celebration, is an individual story of hard work, determination and ambition. We caught up with some of our Sixth Form students to find out about their achievements, and plans for the future.

A bright future and the architectural gems of Oxford lie ahead for Yusuf, who proudly accepted an offer to read Maths at the University of Oxford, renowned for its academic excellence and attracting top talent. Yusuf attained an impressive A* and double A grades in Maths, Physics and Chemistry and praises his teachers for their support and instilling a sense of self-confidence and inspiration in him.
“I am so glad I chose to stay at Bow for the sixth form. It felt like the right decision, as I had already built solid foundations for my future at GCSE level and had formed strong relationships with my teachers, who were able to offer bespoke guidance and support. The teachers here are fantastic, they really are passionate about the delivery of their subjects and have been a positive influence on my work ethic, high standards and strong aspirations”.

“I feel so happy to have achieved triple D* in my Business BTEC and accept my place at university to study Economics. I'd recommend the Bow Sixth Form because it is a fun and exciting place to study, where teachers are encouraging and motivate you to become the best version of yourself. I am so grateful for careers opportunities and guidance, which helped me to decide on my future career path, working as an analyst at a financial services company. I now leave sixth form with the qualifications to progress on this route, and the experiences and skills which I believe will set me apart”.

There's no stopping Tasfiha, who achieved A*AA in Maths, Physics and Chemistry and has bold plans for the future, including a university degree and PhD in Physics. She praises the sixth form for helping her to discover passion for physics and her teachers for helping her to build a strong work ethic, a key skill that will put her in good stead whilst in higher education and her career.
“Bow Sixth Form has equipped me with the skills, qualifications, opportunities and confidence to pursue my dreams. I am so grateful to my teachers, their support and the incredible sense of community that has helped me to build strong relationships with all of those around me. I would advise younger students to set high expectations of themselves, as no matter what you decide, the support network will help you to achieve it”.

Tahira achieved a fantastic portfolio of results including ABB in Art, English and Psychology, made even more impressive by her determination which saw her increase her English result by a whole grade since her mock.
“I am incredibly proud of what I achieved today, especially in my English result. The sixth form places a huge emphasis on us becoming the best versions of ourselves, to leave when we are 18 as young adults who are World and Career Ready, and I truly believe I have fulfilled that vision. I am so excited to move on to my next step at City St Georges University confident in my abilities and establish a long and successful career in the NHS”.

Young Deputy Mayor for Tower Hamlets and Year 13 Bow Sixth Form student Rochelle is elated with her outstanding results of 3 A grades in English Literature, Politics and Ancient History, and proudly accepted her place at first-choice university, University of Warwick to read Politics and International Studies.
Rochelle has big plans and bold aspirations for the future, to undertake a law conversion at a Russell Group university upon completing her degree, before a career in Finance or the Civil Service.

I am so grateful to my teachers, they were my biggest supporters and advocates and not only understood me in ways no one else did, but they saw my potential when I couldn't. With an impressive set of results including A*A*AB in Maths, Physics, Chemistry and Further Maths under his belt, Nubel has his sights set on a career working for one of the Big Four after embarking on his university degree.
“I am so proud of myself and all that I have achieved in the last two years. The teachers are inspiring, all so passionate about their own subjects which results in exciting and engaging course content. Trips outside of the classroom help us to apply our learning in real-life contexts, and the pastoral team have taught us the value of prioritising our wellbeing, and how to effectively balance our workloads. Anyone thinking of joining the Sixth Form, do it. This is a place designed to prepare you for the future”.

Kamran proudly celebrates attaining D*D*D in BTEC Business and looks forward to his next chapter – having been offered a place at the prestigious University College London to study Business and Health.
“I would describe Bow Sixth Form as challenging, yet fun, with the perfect blend of support and independence, to prepare us for university life and beyond. My teachers instilled a great sense of belief in me and supported me across my 7 years at Bow, and now I am looking forward to my next chapter at university and hopefully gaining my PGCE and training as a teacher. I hope to inspire the next generation, just as my teachers did for me”.

Minshad was thrilled to discover he had secured his place at Ernst & Young, to begin a degree apprenticeship in Level 7 Auditing. He leaves Bow Sixth Form with an impressive portfolio of results under his belt of A*A*A in Maths, Economics and Politics and describes his time at Bow as ‘challenging, yet very rewarding'.
“The sixth form has provided me with endless support when it came to careers guidance and deciding what was the best next step. I was able to meet with the career's guidance team on numerous occasions to discuss my plans for the future and what I wanted to achieve, and from there was provided with opportunities to help me achieve this, both inside and out of the classroom. Not only this, but they opened by eyes to the world of possibilities – I didn't have to go to university, they showed me different routes to becoming an accountant and the ability to work with a prestigious company like Ernst & Young straight out of school is an achievement I will be proud of for the rest of my life”.

High achiever Harry celebrates an incredible triple set of A* grades in Biology, Chemistry and Maths and was elated to accept his place at his first-choice university, the University of Cambridge, to study Medicine.
“I am so happy that I chose to continue my education at the Bow Sixth Form. Over the first 5 years at the school, I was incredibly supported, and this continued right through into the sixth form. Looking back over the last two years, I am certain that I would not be taking my next steps with such confidence without the sixth form team, their belief in me, and their endless wisdom and knowledge which made the difference in every lesson. The support received has encouraged me to challenge myself and excel, and now I have accomplished the best possible results and the university destination of my choice. I have a long way to go, but I look forward to the future and returning to Bow as part of their alumni”.

Celebrating AAB in Economics, Biology and Maths, Hamza describes opening his results envelope and discovering his achievements as ‘amazing, and we could not agree more. He is delighted to start at university in September to read Accounting and Finance, but with multiple offers he needs to decide which to accept – University of Manchester, or Queen Mary University London?
“What stands out to me most about my time at Bow Sixth Form are the teachers - they are caring, listen to your aspirations, understand learning styles and know and value every student as an individual, and they teach us the importance of self-discipline, which I really believe has been fundamental to my success. In addition to this, purpose-built spaces, small classes and private study areas allow for attentive learning and a personalised approach to our education”.

In September, Ahmad will begin studying at Kings College London, an impressive accomplishment after celebrating the achievement of A*AAA in Maths, Further Maths, Chemistry and Physics. He credits Bow Sixth Form for providing the resources and knowledge needed for success and leaves us with the life skills, qualifications and confidence to help him secure further success on his next adventure.
